About the program

Public policy plays a crucial role in shaping the development trajectory and governance frameworks of nations. As Somalia transitions towards stability and growth, there is a pressing need for skilled professionals equipped with the knowledge and expertise to formulate, implement, and evaluate effective public policies. Recognizing this need, Somali National University proposes the establishment of a master’s Program in Public Policy.

MPP offers educational programs in Economics, policies, and planning techniques that are determined to equip students with the latest economic theories, armed with theoretical foundations in economics, research techniques, mastery of data analysis, quantitative and qualitative research techniques, and scientific writing. So, graduates can make plans and recommend economic policies with social and environmental aspects.

Contribute to the development of the application of economic theory in development policy planning and produce an excellent master of economics in development planning and policy- making that has a social responsibility and can face changes in the global environment.

 

Target Audience

The program targets individuals with diverse academic backgrounds and professional experiences, including government officials, civil servants, policymakers, researchers, development practitioners, and aspiring leaders committed to driving positive change through evidence-informed policymaking.

 

Program Requirement

Students are required to complete a total of 45 credit hours of coursework. The total credit hours consist of 21 credit courses of the core course, 12 credit hours of compulsory courses in specialization, and 9 credit hours of elective courses.
